iarelucas Edomonds's debut single is something that fills me with hope and happiness that i thought was mute in these dark times.

The 70's singer/songwriter warmth in his production is beautiful, transporting you to a summers day, beverage in hand, soaking up his musically charged conversational piece.

Accompanied by a twinkling guitar arrangement, an uplifting rhythm with infectious harmonic pieces, this single and upcoming album are fit for summer anthems. Absolutely an artist to have on your radar.

about

Over lockdown, I've found huge escapism in being outdoors and through music – and very often both.

'Sing so no one hears me' is very much my love letter to that realisation, taking my guitar on long walks around my local common and discovering a local history to the rubble and farmland that used to occupy the area.

Discovering new music has also been a key part of coping with social isolation over the past year.

By new, I typically always mean old, as there seems to be a cornucopia of music you'll absolutely love, but haven't yet discovered.

One of those artists for me has been Bread, and underrated soft rock group from California.

The track was written with chords I learnt from playing their music: Am11, Gmaj7 & G6sus.

lyrics

The water's all dried up now,
but it used to flow with ease.
Through channels made of concrete,
'cross fields to feed machines.

And though there's nothing standing,
the rubble still remains.
I'll pick up my guitar, cross that channel
and head out towards the plains.

I'll sing so no one hears me, and play it loud.

The other day I came across
a dirt path deep in the thorns.
I followed it just through the rubble and mud,
and came out on to a lawn.

I could tell that few had been here,
it had seen some time pass by.
The most difficult paths are often not taken
and most folks don't even try.

I'll make my peace with the birdsong, and then sit down.

I wandered back through the hedgerow
and found myself on the track.
Scratches all over my twelve string
and thorns clinging on to my back.

I could've stayed all day in that meadow,
the climate so serene,
but I knew that I had to head back home
and write about what I had seen.

I'll pour myself some coffee, and write it down.
